brightened up a rainy day

i was originally planning to wait until tomorrow or sunday to dye easter eggs so that chad could participate. but today was the 5th day of rain this week and the kids were tired of my usual bag of tricks. i guess i must have been pretty desperate for something to do to pass the time considering this activity involved fragile eggs, boiling water, dye, and a lot of waiting. not exactly ideal for a baby and an almost-pre-schooler. so you understand why i have a photo of the pretty eggs, but none of the kids. we'll try again this weekend.

note: i used instructions for the dye baths in this post from not martha. i originally bookmarked it because i wanted to make the surprise eggs... but then i got real with myself.
